WendyQuest: Secret Ending Guide (True Friends Achievement)

This walkthrough covers the route to the “True Friends” achievement and the secret ending in WendyQuest. It helps a lot if you’ve already finished the game at least once, because the whole run leans on you knowing the normal story beats and bosses by heart — that’s what lets you recognize exactly which moments to dodge here.

I’m writing this because the whole path is built on breaking the game on purpose, and if you don’t know where the seams are you’ll accidentally trip a cutscene and lock yourself out of the route. So I’ve laid the sequence out in order — including the parts where you need to just keep pushing against an exit until the game gives up on you.

The Hidden Prophecy (skip if you just want the achievement)

Before the route itself, here’s the flavor piece that hints at it. On a normal run, look to the upper right corner of the map and you’ll spot an island shaped like a question mark. You can only reach it once you have the Frosty Stone and the boat is unlocked.

Landing there drops you into Exclamation Mark Cave, a stealth segment where you sneak past a pack of Mech Guards. You can’t fight them — it’s pure avoidance. Make it to the far end and you’ll emerge into a shrine room.

That shrine holds a set of achievement chests, each unlocked only when you’ve hit a specific milestone. Most of these you’ll likely earn naturally, but for reference the requirements are:

  • Longest Critical Hit Streak: 5
  • Critical Hits: 25
  • Enemy KO’s: 100
  • Critical Hits: 150
  • Enemy KO’s: 400
  • Loot Chests Found: 50
  • Food Items Consumed: 25
  • Hero Idols Found: 16
  • Corner Stones Found: 2
  • Corner Stones Found: 4
  • Total Gold Looted: 1250

KOs, crits, gold, and chests all come thick and fast during a playthrough, so those take care of themselves. The Hero Idols are the one I’d keep an eye on — this map roughly marks their locations:

Not every marker on that map will hand you an idol, though most will. If you come up one short, talk to Elder Frosty after rescuing her and she’ll give you one.

Open every chest — which also nets you the “Loot Goblin” achievement — and the Dave shrine reveals a new hidden verse of the prophecy:

The-Hidden-Prophecy-you-can-skip-this-if

“To the hero that has won with ease, / To the one with more to seek… / Begin anew with no one to please, / Go alone without the weak. / And in the end you are sure to see. / What it means to truly be free.”

Read plainly, it’s telling you to replay the game alone — without your party members. Do you actually need to have heard this verse on a previous save to trigger the ending? Probably not. But it’s worth knowing before you start.

Here’s the short version of what we’re doing: avoid meeting characters and avoid the quests Frygor sends you on at every opportunity.

Part 1: “Find Frygor”

During this replay you’ll clear the intro and tutorial sections as usual — and this is where I’d grab the Assist Amulet to make the whole run considerably easier. Once the objective to “Find Frygor” pops up, you ignore it completely.

Part-1-Find-Frygor

Instead, take on Frydusa solo. As the first boss she isn’t much, but level up a little and stock up on fries first so you don’t end up “soggy” mid-fight. If you want to swing by town to restock at the Wendy’s restaurant, go right ahead — just keep your distance from Frygor.

Beat her and Frygor will catch up and force his way into your party no matter what. That’s fine — it’s part of the route.

Part-1-Find-Frygor

One detail to watch for: Wendy will comment on how long you took to reach and defeat Frydusa — and she’ll do the same for most bosses after this. That line only appears on this route, so treat it as your confirmation that you’re on track.

Part-1-Find-Frygor

You’ll also pick up the “I Can Do This All By Myself” achievement for taking Frydusa down alone.

Part 2: “Reunite with Frostyna”

After Frydusa, progress your quests as you normally would — reviving Tatoria and collecting the Fry Stone — until the objective to “Reunite with Frostyna” appears. Ignore that one too.

When you reach Chillcrest, don’t go right toward Frostyna. Head left.

Part-2-Reunite-with-Frostyna

If the screen starts glitching, stay calm — that’s the signal you’re on the correct path.

Part-2-Reunite-with-Frostyna

Frygor will nag you to go meet Frostyna as you try to exit left out of town. Keep attempting to leave anyway — eventually he gets annoyed, goes to find her himself, and she joins the party. After that you can carry on as normal.

Part 3: “Meet With Chomps”

Part-3-Meet-With-Chomps

By now the pattern should be obvious: we are not meeting with Chomps. Progressing normally will still hand you Sir Chicken as a party member — that one’s unavoidable — but meeting Chomps is not. When the quest to meet him lands, skip town and head up to the Cauldron of Sauce, which is where his story leads you regardless.

Part-3-Meet-With-Chomps

Frygor will push you toward Chomps again, but keep heading to the top left of the Cauldron of Sauce — the same spot where Chomps would normally smash the wall open if you’d met him. Frygor gives up, the game glitches again, and Chomps is suddenly standing there with the wall already broken. From that point on, you’re free to go back into town and restock supplies whenever you need.

Part 4: “Talk To Eggward”

No, we are not talking to Eggward. Keep following the main objectives until you reach the next town, where you’ll be told to go see him. This one’s risky — it’s genuinely easy to get dragged into an Eggward cutscene by accident — so swing around the right side and head up to the top of the map.

Part-4-Talk-To-Eggward

At the very top, do the same thing as before: keep trying to leave town without having spoken to Eggward, and eventually the game lets you through.

Part-4-Talk-To-Eggward

Part 5: “Talk To Baconator’s Son”

After meeting Baconator and pushing the story further, the last event to skip is the simplest of the lot: just don’t walk into Baconator’s house. Frygor will try everything to steer you there, but keep attempting to move forward without entering his home.

Part-5-Talk-To-Baconators-Son

Don’t check on Baconator’s Son. Sorry, Baconator.

Part 6: “Infiltrate The Office”

From here it’s smooth sailing. You’ll pass a few more glitchy scenes courtesy of Frygor as you work your way up to the office.

Part-6-Infilitrate-The-Office

Part-6-Infilitrate-The-Office

Once you’re at the office entrance, just before the MechBorg fight, there’s a neat checkpoint if you want to use the Peppercaster — provided all the achievement chests are open. The shrine will read differently depending on whether you’ve actually followed the hidden prophecy, so it’s a handy way to confirm you stayed on the route.

Part-6-Infilitrate-The-Office

After you beat the final boss, Frygor completely loses it over all the quests you skipped — and then actually removes himself from the party.

Part-6-Infilitrate-The-Office

Congratulations — you’ve broken the game and broken this man, all for an achievement.

Part 7: Fry Gore

With the main boss down, you’ll fight Frygor himself.

Part-7-Fry-gore

It’s not a wild fight. Once you’ve “defeated” him — or rather, once the battle reaches its conclusion — the story plays out normally, and by the end you’ll earn the “True Friends” achievement, plus a short and sweet message from Wendy and the developers.

A Few Closing Thoughts

I came away genuinely impressed with how tight this game is — it’s mostly one big playable Wendy’s advertisement, but it’s free and it’s fun, and this secret path in particular is cool as heck. If you’re a fan of Undertale or Deltarune, the influences are everywhere here, and the whole sequence-breaking angle is very reminiscent of Deltarune’s “Weird Route.” How Frygor reacts when you try to break the game is straight out of the Sans playbook too — a figure who understands what’s happening on a fourth-wall level, just far less cool because he’s, well, a personification of french fries. One thing I’ll swear by: listen closely during the Frygor fight, because I’m 99% sure his boss theme slips in a very short Megalovania motif. It’s no joke — it caught me off guard hearing it.
