Survival Log: Crafting Recipes for Tools, Traps, Gardening, Power, and Furniture

This is a crafting reference I put together for Survival Log, covering the recipes that actually come up while you’re building out a base and keeping yourself fed. If you’re tired of guessing what goes into a lockpick or a grow box and just want the material list in front of you, this is for you.

I organized it by category instead of one giant list, because in my experience you’re usually hunting for “the trap recipe” or “the power recipe,” not scrolling through everything at once. The numbers below are exact — I kept them as-is so you can check your inventory against them before you start crafting.

Tools

These are the small utility items you’ll craft early and often. None of them are expensive, but the material types matter — glass and metal scrap show up in almost all of them, so it pays to keep a stack of both on hand.

Item Materials
Lockpick Scrap Plastic x1, Broken Glass x1
Crowbar Paper Scrap x1, Scrap Plastic x1, Sheet Metal x1
Clatter Can Sheet Metal x1, Broken Glass x1

Hunting Traps

Hunting is one of those things where the trap you build decides how much meat you actually bring home, so I pick these based on what I’m after rather than just building the cheapest one. The small traps are fine for a quick catch, while the big cages eat a lot more metal and wire — worth it if you’re planning to rely on live catches.

Trap Materials
Simple Mouse Trap Wood Scrap x1, Sheet Metal x1
Live Catch Cage Scrap Plastic x1, Sheet Metal x2
Simple Bird Net Paper Scrap x1, Broken Glass x1, Sheet Metal x1
Iron Beast Trap Paper Scrap x1, Broken Glass x1, Scrap Plastic x1, Sheet Metal x1
Large Rat Cage (Medium) Wood Scrap x4, Iron Wire x6, Hard Paper x2, Sheet Metal x6
Extra-Large Rat Cage (Large) Iron Wire x6, Iron Part x1, Tempered Glass x4, Electronic Component x1, Sheet Metal x3, Wood Scrap x3

Gardening

Grow boxes are the backbone of a self-sustaining base, and the two families here — plant light boxes and constant-temperature boxes — cover different needs. The plant light versions lean on metal and electronics, while the temperature-controlled ones pull in more plastic. Notice the large sizes swap in a different metal component than the small and medium, which is easy to trip over if you’re mass-crafting.

Grow Box Materials
Plant Light Grow Box (Small) Sheet Metal x1, Iron Wire x1, Electronic Component x1
Plant Light Grow Box (Medium) Sheet Metal x1, Iron Wire x1, Electronic Component x1, Fine Sheet Metal x1
Plant Light Grow Box (Large) Sheet Metal x1, Iron Wire x1, Electronic Component x1, Iron Rod x1
Constant-Temperature Grow Box (Small) Sheet Metal x1, Scrap Plastic x1, Electronic Component x1
Constant-Temperature Grow Box (Medium) Scrap Plastic x1, Sheet Metal x2, Plastic Sheet x1, Electronic Component x1
Constant-Temperature Grow Box (Large) Sheet Metal x2, Plastic Sheet x1, Iron Wire x1, Electronic Component x2
Full-Spectrum Hydroponic Station (Large) —

One caveat: the Full-Spectrum Hydroponic Station (Large) appears in the source list but comes with no material costs attached, so I’ve left it blank rather than guess. Worth checking in-game before you plan around it.

Power & Energy

Power storage and generation is where the material costs really climb. If you’re eyeing the big storage units or the fuel generator, start stockpiling iron parts, tempered glass, and electronic components well ahead of time — those are the bottlenecks in my experience.

Power Item Materials
Household UPS (Small) Container x2, Iron Wire x1, Electronic Component x2
Household Power Station (Medium) Container x3, Iron Wire x3, Electronic Component x3
Extra-Large Power Storage Unit (Large) Iron Part x2, Electronic Component x3, Tempered Glass x4, Container x2
Extra-Large Fuel Generator (Large) Iron Part x2, Electronic Component x3, Tempered Glass x4, Sheet Metal x4

Daily Furniture

These are the comfort and cooking items that make a base livable. A few of them — the microwave and oven — need tempered glass, and the grinder wants a couple of fine sheet metal pieces, so they’re not as trivial to throw down as the simpler stuff.

Furniture / Appliance Materials
Solid Wood Bed Iron Rod x3, Strap x1, Wood Board x2
Air Conditioner Sheet Metal x3, Iron Wire x2, Plastic Sheet x1, Electronic Component x3
Microwave Sheet Metal x2, Tempered Glass x1, Electronic Component x1
Electric Hot Pot Sheet Metal x2, Plastic Sheet x1, Electronic Component x2
Juicer Sheet Metal x1, Electronic Component x1, Plastic Sheet x1
Grinder Iron Wire x2, Wood Board x3, Fine Sheet Metal x2, Plastic Sheet x1, Electronic Component x1
Electric Oven Sheet Metal x3, Electronic Component x3, Tempered Glass x2

That covers the recipes I’ve been keeping track of. Once your power and grow boxes are running, the rest of the grind gets a lot more manageable — and if you’re still deciding how you want to finish a run, the endings guide is worth a look so you don’t lock yourself out of the path you actually want.
